Happy NaNoWriMo friends!

The first draft is just you telling yourself the story.

Hello All! Happy November (And Happy Christmas to all ya’ll who patiently wait until Halloween is over to pull out the Christmas music)!

And yes, I did say November. Which means it’s NaNoWriMo and it’s time to write, write write!

(Yes, this blog will go towards my NaNo count. The Website doesn’t say that the words written necessarily have to be a Novel.)

My novel this year will be about Hockey (and that’s all I’m gonna give you!) I was inspired to write hockey related things by a comic by Ngozi Ukazu so fingers crossed that mine works out okay.

I’m trying a different writing style than what I’m used to this year. I’ve found that I’ve always had trouble using the standard Third Person/First Person style that’s most common amongst novels. This year I’m gonna try a story told through Social Media so we’ll see how well it goes.

Of course, this will be a First Draft so it won’t go as perfectly as I want it to. But that’s okay. First Drafts are rarely perfect and once I’ve always got until next year to flesh out where I want to go with the story and properly plan it out.

Fingers crossed I actually reach 50, 000 words this year!

What are your plans for NaNoWriMo this year? (Also, add me on nanowrimo.org at waywardwrite.s!

Until next time!
